I have never really been that ‘into’ purses. Well, I admit, I had a different purse for different outfits. I had a black one, blue one, brown one, and a neutral purses that would go with just about everything. But I was never really excited about purses, until now. The other day I was watching a daytime talk show, well not really watching, more catching a glimpse as I was getting dinner ready. Ok I was watching it 🙂

Anyways…

In this part of the program a contestant from the audience was called up. She was told she had answer questions in order to win purses. I think she had the opportunity to win 5, but don’t quote me on that. So the contestant answers some, or all, or the questions and then she gets a purse for each correct one. Well I was amazed at the reaction of what she won.

Sure they were designer bags. Sure they were worth a lot of money. But purses?

The winner was jumping up for joy. Holding the purse like it was a baby, Putting all the purses over her shoulder have hugging them. I was amazed. That got me to thinking. Just because I am not the type of woman who drools at a purse for a gift, how many women do? So I did a search online and purses are almost as big as shoes when it comes to a present for a woman. My hubbies birthday is coming up in a couple of months, so while I was checking for gifts I want to list on our Male Room page I found some really cool gift that I wanted to share with you. Well it’s gifts I think he would like but I’m sure these are guy gifts that most would like too!

Half Year Birthday Celebration

My birthday doesn’t fall near a major holiday but I remember when I was a young that there were a couple kids I knew that had a birthday the day before Christmas and the other on Christmas day.

They never felt that they really had a birthday.

Sure their parents did a cake and tried to give them a separate present, but with everything that goes over the holidays it just never made the grade.

Billy has an old workmate whose Birthday is December 26th. His wife’s Birthday is December 26th and their oldest son’s Birthday is December 26th!!! He asked them what that is like and his friend pulled a sour face and said it totally sucks, especially for their son.

I started to think about this today, because we are around the 6 month mark before Christmas. So for those who have kids, or actually anyone in their family, who has a birthday so close to Christmas my thought is…

Why not surprise them with a half birthday celebration, an un-birthday!

Now don’t grumble about spoiling them, or cost, because since it is summer time you can find all sorts of great gifts that won’t cost a lot, but will thrill them to bits. Plus with the benefit of summer weather there are more possibilities for great outdoor gift ideas.

Here’s an idea.

How about arranging a BBQ, and let tell the person (or child) about it and that there will be a few friends coming over. It won’t seem strange. You can even do a bit of decorating without it standing out.

Home is really where the heart resides, where you feel comfortable (or threatened), loved (or alone). This kind of gift can make a huge difference in someone’s life.

But before I go into gift ideas I would like to share a personal story.

My Mum died of breast cancer when I was 23. Home base dissolved shortly after that.

All the years since then I found myself wanting to create a home that I not only felt was my home, but anyone who came to visit would feel comfortable. That my home projected a welcoming feeling and a give people a sense of serene.

At the end of last year we were informed that the house we were renting was being put up for sale. A month later it was sold. It was a very difficult time for me as my home means everything to me. We luckily found a new home to rent that fit perfectly.

The set up of the house was incredibly important to me. We spent many hours moving things around to get the right feel. We added items, moved items, until we could stand back and say “yes”.

The other day the owners of the home we rent came to visit and they said, often, how much lovelier it was from what we’ve done since moving in.

Home is where the heart is… it is indeed.

Let’s Talk About Fitness Gifts For Someone Who Has Everything

As a kid I so wanted to be active but I was tied up like a dog, on a leash that kept me from moving very far from home. When I reached about 4 or 5 years old I was finally allowed to move freely, and when I did I can tell you I ran, skipped, jumped, climbed trees, anything I wanted to do.

Exercise was wonderful. As time went on I started to power walk, bike, do weight training, did tai chi and so much more.

So when I went to university I took on a part-time job teaching fitness classes. I not only loved to teach but I also loved to be fit. I taught aerobics, weight training, tai chi, and so much more. My clients age range was teens to seniors.

Back in those days they didn’t have all unique and fantastic fitness tools, accessories and machines that you can find now.

These are wonderful gifts you can give no matter what their fitness level is, plus being fit helps kids grow up strong, teens develop good fitness habits, and adults stay strong as they move into their silver or golden years.

A Perfect Birthday Gift For The Woman In Your Life Means Thinking Of Who They Are

So the title says all you need to do is ‘think of who they are’. Sounds simplistic doesn’t it, especially when you are buying a present for the woman (wife, mother, daughter, girlfriend. etc.) who seems to have it all.

But think about it.

How well do you know the person you are buying the birthday present for? If it is someone in your family you should know them fairly well. Sometimes it is just a matter of sitting and thinking about things you remember them talking about. Or just take some time and be with them in advance of their birthday. Listen to what interests them. Ideas can actually come over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. It really is, in my opinion, knowing who they are. Then of course finding it.

Birthday Gift For The Women In Your Life.

If you are lucky there are many women in your life who you will celebrate a birthday with. So let’s look at some on the great ideas by relationship.

You Wife or Girlfriend (hopefully not both 🙂

If it is the first birthday you have spent together as a married couple I would suggest you give her a special birthday present to celebrate that occasion so I would try jewelry (doesn’t have to equal the engagement or wedding ring, just something that she will remember as the first). Whether your wife, or your girlfriend, if you are past the first year jewelry absolutely still works, but you can also be a bit more intimate, if you think you are ready.
