When I was a kid we only had a TV, and even that had limited channels. So we had a lot of play time because, well basically that’s all we could do!
I have seen articles, commercials, and many other media blasts stating that kids these days are spending way too much time on iPhones, tablets, computers, etc., and not enough time playing. Not enough time exercising.
I read an article today, in our local paper, that talked about kids becoming interested in archery because of the move trilogy “Hunger Games”. Kids that love, and are following the “Hunger Games” trilogy, are also getting physically involved in the sport. How great is this!
What a great gift to give a kid who has everything! Not only the enjoyment of being involved, but an actual sport that takes them away from sitting in front of a screen.
Archery looks a lot easier than it is and will help kids develop strength, hand to eye coordination and increases their focus/concentration.
I found this:
BARNETT BAR-1103 Tomcat junior archery set
The Barnett Tomcat Junior Archery Set includes a bow with a soft touch that makes it a good choice for kids.
It starts your novice archer off with easy draw weights and draw lengths.
As your child’s skill level increases, the draw weights and draw lengths can be increased.
Features like the soft-touch rollers and the rounded cams make this a good choice for young archers who need to concentrate on the fundamentals.
The package includes 3-pin fiber-optic sight, soft-touch finger rollers, and two arrows.

Not only is this a great gift for a kid, but it takes them back into play time, while they are actually exercising, and may actually give them a skill that could turn into a life long sport!
