I live in the part of Canada that receives a lot of rain, and I mean a lot of rain. During the summer you will hear people say “in Vancouver you don’t tan you rust” because of the rain.
But we are a hardy bunch and that never stops us from venturing outdoors.
The history of umbrellas is very interesting. Briefly, the earliest appearance of an umbrella was a simple palm leaf umbrella and actually related to how wealthy you were, to modern times when umbellas are just a general accessory. Advancements in technology enabled umbrellas to grow becoming one of the most common ways to protect ourselves from rain.
There are so many different styles, colors and patterns of umbrellas.

What you will find here are people with a varied selection of umbrellas. Big ones for the winter rains, lighter ones for the spring rains, all in various colors and styles. There is also another type of umbrella that is used to shield folks from the blaring sun.
Yes we love our umbrellas.
I can remember one birthday getting an umbrella covered in cats. I love cats. I became quite known for that umbrella so people would recognize me before they even saw my face. That was quite fun. I actually still have it, though it’s not in the best of shape after 20 odd years.
So as one, of over four million residents, I have an umbrella collection for all sorts of various types of weather, and I am always on the look out for new ones.

Even in bad weather if you have a fun umbrealla it can make a wet and dark day happy. Some of the kids umbrellas are great fun. Even though they are made for kids, adults would love them too. It puts a smile on your face on any dark day.

So when it comes to finding a gift for someone keep in mind the umbrella. It’s not just for covering anymore, as you can see from the ones I just mentioned, but they are also a fashion statement, or a statement of what you like (whether an animal, sports team, etc.).
