There are lots of ads coming out these day about Back To School Gifts. I’ve been thinking about this and, maybe I am old school (so to speak), but I never got Back to School Gifts. The school told my parents what I had to have as far as school supplies. Yes you get your kids packbacks, new clothes, supplies, etc. but gifts?
But then I thought, maybe giving when they go Back To School is not the time to give gifts to your kids.
The first week or two of back to school is fun for kids. They were bored by the end of summer, they are happy to get back to school and see their friends, but after a few weeks they are back into the ‘slog’ of school. Right?!
So how do you keep them happy once the initial back to school thrill wears off – well how about rewarding them with a gift?
Yes this sounds like a bribe, but if you think back to your experiences in school, wouldn’t you have liked a gift every now and then to give you the extra ‘push’ to keep going.
Let’s say you give your kid a little gift every month. Save it for day you when your intuition tells you they need a little boost or a reward. Think about how they will feel when they arrive at school with the gift you gave them. Sure they will brag to their friends, but they will also feel more support from you and more of a desire to try harder.
Is ‘back to school’ gift giving bribery, no. It’s just another way to show support for your kids, along with all the other things you do, through some of the toughest years of their lives.

These gits for kids, don’t have to be huge – they can be fun small gifts. Just something that will perk them up – bring them a smile.
