This morning Billy and I were sitting out on the back deck having coffee when we noticed a hummingbird fly into the tree. Shortly after that we saw a second hummingbird fly into the same tree. They seemed to be drawn by the flowers on the holly tree. We started talking about how small they were, even compared to the yellow canaries we could see close to them, when one hummingbird flew quickly by us and then came back and hung in the air looking right at us.
We were so stunned that we didn’t even talk.
It stayed there for maybe about 30 seconds and then the second one came in just as the first one left. The second one stayed about 10 seconds and flew off. To see these tiny birds come in and just look at us was magical. The experience has stayed with me all day long.
