If you have read my bio information you know that I created this site 15 years ago because fashion has been my passion since my early teens and I worked in retail for years.

I can’t say that I am a “fashionista”, but having worked in retail for such a long time I sure know fashion. I may not like everything I see but I get a feel for what woman will like. I can see trends happening and make sure you will see them too.

I remember back when I was a manager of a fashion retail store and the men that came in looking for clothing gifts for their wife. girlfriend, sister, mother… No offence guys, but the men I dealt with had no idea what their woman liked or what size they were. I have to say that I really enjoyed helping these guys find the perfect gifts (returns were minimal). Kind of makes me feel nostalgic. But guys! Getting her size is not rocket science. If you can’t find an opportunity to sneak a peek at a few labels, discretely ask her BFF or her Mom. But don’t ask her okay? Don’t want to give away the gift giving secret!

Drum roll… I have added a new feature to our index page of the site. This new feature showcases an incredible gift for her, him, and kids that I have found and I want to share with you.

I will be updating them each week.

I love doing this. Here’s a story to tell you.

When I was a manager in retail one of the joys I had was doing window dressings. I did them when we had new arrivals of clothing and my creative imagination peaked as I say the new inventory.

Thrilled!

I remember one time when me and my staff were working on displays and ,one of my staff, was up on a ladder putting up a new item when someone came up behind her on the ladder. It was the CEO of the retail company I was a manager for (a big deal). She froze, he laughed. He said “we all want to share what is best for our customers and I am happy to help you”.

I don’t think she every got over the experience. For me, it showed what we should not only give our employees but our customers, creative service from the top down!

When One Gift Isn’t Enough Pick An Outfit

Oh I can hear the sighs out there from guys who read that title.

When you are shopping for a clothing present for her it can be hard just finding one item, never mind an outfit.

I Know it’s not easy, well unless you have someone helping you like me 🙂

As I have mentioned before my first career was in retail. As a manager one of my duties was to put outfits together for displays. I loved doing it. I also loved helping customers find the perfect outfit to give as a present. So I decided to do the same for you.

How To Look Cool When It Is Hot

Like a good portion of North America (and other places), it’s hot here. Thankfully, we don’t get as warm as many of you are and I sympathize with you all suffering through torrid temperatures and the hardships that are accompanying it for many of you…

I feel for you!

I am suffering right now and thinking of how to stay cool. Because it doesn’t get as hot here for extended periods of time, air conditioning is not something you find built into every home.

So what to do?

Well, the obvious stuff, like squirt ourselves with the garden sprinkler seems to work good, hardly anyone has a swimming pool in our hood.

And, we wear as little as we can…

Even if we aren’t as toned as Stacy Keibler, or as buff as our favorite film star, we can still look cool and classy by choosing what little we wear, carefully. Throw a bikini bottom on and wear a pretty scarf as a sarong and you’ll look sharp while you stay cool.

Is Your Guy Into Hockey

Does he love hockey so much that he even watches the Zamboni with excitement?

Did you know that the first ice resurfacer was pioneered and developed by American inventor and engineer Frank Zamboni in 1949. The Zamboni ice-resurfacer is more than another example of ingenuity. It is a cultural touchstone. It has been featured in television shows ranging from CSI to David Letterman.

Plus the late Charles Schultz, an avid hockey player, had two of them at his home rink, and the machines made several appearances in his Peanuts comic strip.
